Introduction: The future of a nation lies with the children, and traffic safety matters a lot to our entire society. Every member of society has a responsibility to enhance children’s safety knowledge, to make them aware of risks, and to ensure they travel in a safe manner.

Children are at risk of traffic injury in their daily lives, how can we make sure that they know the danger and avoid it? To address this problem, the top priority of traffic safety education for children is to help them develop risk awareness at a young age.

In an attempt to further make children aware of traffic safety and guardians aware of their responsibility to keep their children safe on the road, on May 31, 2023, June 1 Children’s Day Traffic Safety Book Sharing Meeting with the theme of “Traffic Safety Ensures Happy Childhood” was held in Beijing. This event was under the guidance of the Transport Administration of the Ministry of Public Security and the Supervision Department of the Ministry of Education, sponsored by the Road Traffic Safety Research Center of the Ministry of Public Security and China Publishing Group Co., Ltd. (CPG) Research Press, and supported by Duolun Technology. The children’s picture book series “Traffic Safety of Chinese Zodiac” was unveiled at the meeting.

This series is developed elaborately by the Road Traffic Safety Research Center of the Ministry of Public Security and CPG Research Press under the guidance of the Transport Administration of the Ministry of Public Security. Designed to protect children and adolescents from road traffic accidents, this book series discusses the most common and typical traffic risks children aged 3 to 6 face in walking, playing, riding in cars, and other daily activities.
